What brands I use
My current line-up for camera brands are the two, Hasselblad and Leica; however I do use other brands every so often, Holga and Minox, both of which are film cameras, and a DJI Osmo Pocket, a tiny digital camera on a gimbal, for Behind The Scene (BTS)
That said, historically I’ve gone through a number of brands, from the very first camera I bought myself, a Boots’ branded 110 camera; then my very first SLR, a Minolta; my first digital camera a Sony Movica, then to Nikon as my first digital SLR.
In between all of those, and along my 50+ years’ journey I’ve toyed with Pentax, Minox, and a multitude of others cameras too; but none were an ecosystem that I stayed with for too long and were mainly for “toying” and testing.
My current line-up are both digital and analogue (film), in both the Leica and Hasselblad range; and I have to say it is film that draws me back to the love of photography … not that I don’t love digital, with its instant gratification.
If you follow me you’ll see which specific Leica & Hasselblad I use, for which photoshoot.
Where do I go next, I am not sure … my current line-up gives me all that I need, of course it goes without saying there’s always that feature I’d love to have, but none that will assist me in getting a better photo!
The current camera market is in a weird flux due to a number of factors. The progress in mobile phones, and with it the deterioration of dSLR. Mirrorless are now the new dSLR, but where are they heading too and how long will this survive the progress in mobile phones with cameras? Then there is the recent introduction of AI in creating art and what impact it will have on photography as a whole. All these will impact the progress and advancement of manufacturers with their line-up.
Maybe Large Format film?
