Over the year I’ve come to enjoy taking photos from a low-down angle, really low. It tends to give us a different perspective, and make us see things from a cat’s point of view.

The trouble with crouching down is that it puts strain on the knees; so, I’ve learned to just sit and cross my legs, taking a break every now and then.

Then, one day, while watching a gardening programme (don’t know why I was watching such a programme, as I am not the least into gardening), I saw the presenter using kneepads when doing some work on the turf / soil!

And with that, viola! I think I found my solution to the strains to my knees …

Off shopping I went, and hello Amazon. I bought a pair for a good £9.99; and upon their arrival went straight to test them … and dear Lord what a difference these made.

I know never, ever, travel, or go out without a pair with me. Even if I don’t end up shooting from low angle, and hence not needing them; a pair of kneepads are always a part of my tool.

Not just for LandScape photoshoot, but for any photoshoot that needs me to be low on my knees; from macro, nature, wildlife, even Beauty & Fashion and Beauty & Glamour … if I have to be on my knees, it’s with them kneepads.

I’ve since found various types, and best seem to be the ones from hardware stores for doing house handy work; they’re far more rugged than the garden variety, but either is far better than being on one’s knees without any.
